I am one of
the leading Nadhaswara Vidwan. I am the disciple
of Mambalam Mr. M.K.Swaminathan who is a eminent
Nadhaswara Vidwan.
Right from the age of 15, say for around 35 years
I am playing this instrument – this art
of Nadhaswaram made me famous in spite of so many
vidwans are existing because of certain features
and inbuilt talents.
Presently I am the Asthana Nadhaswara Vidwan for
Sringeri Mutt temples – in West Mambalam
and T.Nagar and regularly playing Nadhaswaram
for all the functions regularly taking place there.
I have also participated in special functions
organized by Tamils in Kolkota, Delhi.
In addition during festival times, I am regularly
involving in katcheris as per the invitation of
temple authorities, Govt.functions.
Playing Nadhaswaram in Marriage functions are
our routine activity and it is our bread and butter.
Traditionally, from time immemorial, it is Nadhaswaram
instrument and troop has its significant role
– be it temple function, kacheries, marriages
or any religious function. My only expectation
is that many nadhaswara vidwans must come up with
the phase of the growing population, functions
etc so that this special art shall be recognized,
respected and further developed, encouraged. |
