M.S.Gopalakrishnan is the top
ranking violinist of India. He has been in the field
for the over sixty five years. MSG is the son of
the late Parur Sundaram Iyar, the famous violinist
who was an authority on the two systems of Indian
Classical music, i.e. North Indian (Hindustani)
and South Indian (Camatic) systems. He has learnt
both Hindustani and Camatic styles.
MSG is an outstanding accompanist and a unique soloist.
He has developed a new style know as the ‘Parur’
style. This style encompasses his superb bowing
and fingering technique. MSG has done vast research
on violin playing techniques.
He has trained a umber of students in India and
abroad including his daughter M. Narmada, who has
completed her Doctorate in Music studying the music
of both Indian classical styles. She accompanies
him in his solo concerts. |

Canada, UK, Europe, South Africa, Hongkong, Singapore,
Malaysia and Australia. |

MSG is the only Violinnist in
the top grade of All India Radio concerts in Hindustani
and Camatic styles. He is a regular performer of
national programmes on radio and television.
